June 2013 Grants

The Price Family Charitable Fund approved grants for the following at its June meeting:

School Supplies
Providing tables, chairs, easels, pencils, scissors, and art supplies for the Sweetwater Unified School District.

Balboa Park Cultural Institutions
General operating support for educational programs at the following institutions: San Diego Museum of Art, San Diego History Center, Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, Museum of Photographic Art, San Diego Air and Space Museum, San Diego Junior Theater, and San Diego Natural History Museum.

Passport to Life
The Passport to Life program is aimed at San Diego county youth involved with the juvenile justice system. The half day program inspires youth to overcome their behavior issues and seek higher education, stable employment, and a law abiding lifestyle. The day includes opportunities to meet with local employers and education professionals.

Rage for Justice
Support for the Rage for Justice Awards, which honors leaders in the public interest movement. Rage for Justice is hosted by the Consumer Watchdog, a non-profit consumer advocacy organization based in California best known for helping pass legislation to reduce automobile and property insurance rates.

Middle School Experiential Learning
Monroe Clark Middle School students have hands on, experiential learning experiences at local museums and cultural centers, particularly in the area of science. The program also brings scientists and other experts onto Clark’s campus for further learning activities.

Rosa Parks Preschool
San Diego State University education professionals help Rosa Parks Preschool children prepare for successful entry into kindergarten following a holistic approach. The preschool utilizes a language focused curriculum, provides comprehensive health and social service resources and emphasizes family involvement in the education of every child.

San Diego Center for Children
A general operating grant to support the organization’s mission to support children and teens with intensive behavioral and mental health needs.

Rady Children’s Hospital
A general operating grant to support the region’s largest children’s hospital.
