Cal State University San Marcos (CSUSM) has launched the Scholars in Wellness and Innovation Fast-Track (SWIFT) Health Programs, a three-year bachelor’s degree initiative. This program, backed by a $10 million grant from Price Philanthropies Foundation, aims to help students complete their bachelor’s degree within three years. Students can take CSUSM classes, earn college credits while still in high school, and then apply to enroll in the CSUSM SWIFT Program.

The program has two tracks: public health and human development with a concentration in counseling. Reports indicate that San Diego County is facing a significant behavioral health worker shortage. If successful, SWIFT will increase the number of social service and healthcare professionals in San Diego County. Students will focus on these fields, with coursework and internships tailored to careers in social work and healthcare. Upon graduation, they will earn certifications that make them immediately employable in these sectors.

This partnership with Cal State San Marcos reflects Price Philanthropies’ commitment to pioneering new approaches to social challenges, in line with the vision of its founder, Sol Price.
