ScholarshipsPrice Philanthropies awarded academic scholarships this month to 75 San Diego high school seniors who will be attending colleges and universities this fall.

About half of the scholarship funding will go to 15 City Heights recent high school graduates chosen as Price Community Scholars. They are the second cohort of Scholars to attend San Diego State University on four year scholarships. As a condition for being awarded scholarships, these students each commit to mentor three middle school students at either Wilson or Monroe Clark Middle Schools.

Twelve Hoover High students received Effron Scholarships in memory of Robert Price’s cousin and former Hoover High student Stephen Effron. Eight of these students will be attending four year universities and four students will be attending community colleges.

The Jesus Morales Memorial Scholarship was awarded to six Hoover graduates of Hispanic descent attending universities and community colleges.

The Hoover High School Cardinals Interact Program awarded a total of 36 scholarships to graduating students who have participated in the Cardinals Interact club for three years.

In addition, Price Philanthropies advises and recommends scholarships for the Joseph and Dorothy Goldberg Scholarship Fund. A committee awarded 11 Crawford High School students scholarships to attend universities and community colleges this fall.
